HU men's tennis 2-1 at Alma Round Robin

The Huntington University men's tennis team went 2-1 at the Alma College Round Robin Tourney over Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, kicking off the spring portion of its schedule.
The Foresters, 7-9, defeated Alma College in the their first match, 7-2, and then blasted Manchester University, 8-1. They fell in their third, match, however, losing 4-5 to Lake Superior University.
Against Alma, Joseph Straznicky's 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Trent Pontious at third singles led Huntington in singles play. Vlad Khudziy beat Josh Cove at first singles, 6-3, 6-1, and Diego Inurritegui triumphed over Jared Guy at fourth singles by the same score. In the second singles match, Jose Hungria finished off Logan Beard, 6-3, 6-4.
Rounding out the Foresters' singles wins was Arjun Bhalla's hard-fought 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 decision over Philip Ryskamp at sixth singles.
Khudziy and Hungria teamed up at first doubles to beat Beard and Pontious, 8-3, and the duo of Straznicky and Inurritegui defeated Gordon Rumschlag and Guy at second singles, 8-4.
Forester losses came at fifth singles, where Zakk Sparks fell to Rumschlag, 6-3, 2-6, 7-10, and at third doubles, where Sparks and Bhalla lost to Sam Reedy and Chad Barnhart, 6-8.
Against Manchester, the Foresters swept doubles play, with Inurritegui and Straznicky beating Kyle Lahman and Bobby Swaby, 8-3, Hungria and Sparks taking down Phil Pruitt and Alex Winger by the same score and Joe Brenneman and Jacob Cross defeating Matt Buncich and Ryan Hawkins, 8-4.
At second singles, Inurritegui topped Pruitt, 6-0, 6-0. Brenneman won his match at fourth singles with Winger, 6-1, 6-0. Straznicky turned back Lahman, 6-2, 6-2, at first singles and Hungria triumphed over Swaby, 6-3, 6-3, at third singles. Cross won his sixth singles match with Hawkins, 7-5, 6-1.
The lone Huntington loss came at fifth singles, where Matthew Wilcox was edged by Buncich, 6-4, 4-6, 8-10.
Against Lake Superior, the team broke even in singles play, with three wins and three losses. Khudziy won at first singles against Pedro Nunez, 7-6, 6-4, Inurritegui prevailed over Kyle Koster at third singles, 6-4, 6-0 and Brenneman squeaked past TJ Meyers at fourth singles, 7-6, 4-6, 10-4.
Huntington's only win in doubles play came from Straznicky and Inurritegui at second doubles over Koster and Meyers, 8-4.
Khudziy and Hungria lost to Grant Link and Nunez at first doubles, 3-8, and Brenneman and Sparks fell to Dane Fosgard and Ryne DuShane at third doubles, 2-8.
Sparks came up short against DuShane at sixth singles, 4-6, 7-5, 7-10, while Hungria fell to Link at second singles, 2-6, 3-6 and Bhalla stumbled against Fosgard at fifth singles, 0-6, 2-6.
