Poor shooting sinks Viking boys against Columbia City

Poor shooting sunk the Huntington North High School boys’ varsity basketball team against host Columbia City on Tuesday, Jan. 20, as the Vikings were doubled up on the scoreboard, 56-28.

The Vikings, 4-5, hit only eight of 34 field goal attempts, including just three of 18 shooting from three-point range. They scored just four points in both the first and third quarters.

Jordan Beaver led HNHS with eight points and four rebounds. Taylor Harris had seven points and four rebounds.

Rob Sands added two assists.

Columbia City was led by Brice Lantz with 21 points and three assists. His backcourt mate, Brandon Gay, added 12 points.

The junior varsity Vikes also fell, losing 35-31, in overtime.

Huntington North was led by Cole Bowman with 10 points and seven rebounds and Nick Miller with eight points and three assists.

The Vikings host New Castle on Friday, Jan. 23. The JV game starts at 6:30 p.m.
