Northfield slips by Viking golfers in season debut

The Huntington North High School varsity boys' golf team fell to host Northfield, 188-194, in its season-opener on Tuesday, April 9.

Grant Meese and Zac Tackett, playing first and second, recorded the top scores for HNHS with nine-hole marks of 45 and 47, respectively, but none of the remaining four Vikings could crack the 50 barrier.

Northfield also only had two golfers under 50, but their two, Trae Cole and Braydon Schindler, had scores of 41 and 42, respectively.

Dakota Wibel and Aidan Wright each had rounds of 51 for HNHS, and Sebastian Eckert and Jacob Vinson each fired rounds of 55.

Taylor Poole was third scorer for Northfield with a 51, Andrew Eckerly had a 54, Austin Burns shot a 58 and Jacob Terrell had a 59.

The Vikings won the junior varsity match, 201-249, with Michael May's 43 leading the way. Connor Hoke shot a 48.
