CMS girls' 6-7 track team squeaks past Wabash

The Crestview Middle School girls' sixth and seventh grade track and field team squeaked by host Wabash 58-51 on Tuesday, April 9.

Karmen Koch shone on the track and in the field, winning the 200-meter hurdles in :36.28 and topping high jump with a leap of 4-4.

Also coming away with field wins for the Cougars was Peyton Butler in long jump with a bound of 12-4 and Maddie Hiebel in shot put with a heave of 26-1.

Sara Kauffman grabbed gold in the 200-meter dash in :32.78 and Sydney Kyle did the same in the 400-meter dash in 1:13.23.

Kaufmann and Kyle also notched silvers, with the former finishing the 100-meter hurdles in :20.39 and the latter completing the 100-meter dash in :15.54.

Other second place finishers for Crestview were Chloe Scheiber in the 800 and 1,600-meter runs in 3:13.48 and 6:57.22, respectively; Katie Jamison in the 100-meter hurdles in :38.50; Aliyah Tolley in long jump with an 11-4.5; and Veronica Russell in shot put with a 24-7.

Sliding into third for the Cougars was Katie Jamison in the 100 hurdles in :20.45; Alena Miller in the 1,600 in 7:06.29; Emma Melcher in the 800 in 3:13.83; Kassidy Thompson in the 200 in :33.75; Katie Paolillo in high jump with a 3-10; and Vali Thilmont in the 200 hurdles in :38.71 and in long jump with an 11-4.5.
