Rentschler leads Viking trackmen to second in three-way

Jon Rentschler was a double winner as the Huntington North High School boys' track team finished second in a three-way meet with host Marion and Lawrence North on Wednesday, April 17.
Rentschler won the shot put with a heave of 47-11 and took the discus with a throw of 135-8 to help HNHS pile up 50 points.
Lawrence North won the meet with 86 points, and Marion had 33.
The Vikings got two other field wins as Drew Fawcett won the long jump with a leap of 18-7 and Adam Berlier won the pole vault at a height of 10-6.
Jordan Utter got the Vikings' lone win on the track, taking the 400-meter dash in :53.
The Vikings got three scorers in the 3,200-meter run as Jacob Miller took second place, Matt DeWitt was third and Dustin Campbell was fourth.
Houston Lehman took second in the high jump, and the Vikings got runner-up points as well from their 400-meter relay team of Andrew Spahr, Isaac Smith, Fawcett and Jake Shaw and the 3,200-meter relay of Shaw, Aaron Ebert, Ian Yaste and Collin Wesco.
Spahr added a third in the long jump, Adam Woods was third in the high jump and Alex Overby had the same spot in the 1,600-meter run.
Getting fourth place points were Adam Woods in the 110-meter hurdles, Lehman in the 300-meter hurdles, Cordell Lewis in the 800-meter run, Utter in the 200-meter dash and Alex Kaylor in the shot.
