Rethlake's arm, bat lead Lady Vikes over Muncie Central

Erin Rethlake pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and had a home run and four runs batted in to lead the Huntington North High School varsity softball team to a 16-0 win over host Muncie Central on Tuesday, April 23.
Cassie Lange had a home run and double among thee hits and added three RBI for the Lady Vikes, who improved to 6-0 with the five-inning win.
Rethlake and fellow junior Alyssa Hiple both matched Lange with three hits and Maddi Kennedy and Natasha Grover each had two as HNHS battered Muncie Central pitching for 20 safeties, five for extra bases.
The Lady Vikes scored three runs in the first inning, two more in the second, another three in the third and then chunked down an eight-spot in the fourth.
Rethlake struck out all but two batters she faced, giving up the one hit and one walk.
Rethlake's homer was her fourth of the season, and she also tallied three runs. Lange, whose homer was her first of the season, tallied two runs, as did Audrey Hiner, Kennedy and Hiple.
Hiple and Tori Newsome also had doubles.
