Viking trackmen down pair

A top three sweep in the 400-meter dash among seven wins led the Huntington North High School boys' track team to a double-dual victory over visiting Bluffton and Norwell on Thursday, April 25.

The Vikings topped Norwell, 72-59, and beat up Bluffton, 104.5-26.5.

Distance runners Cordell Lewis, Charles Mettler and Austin Lange dropped down to the 400-meter dash and swept the top three places, respectively, with Lewis winning in :55.3.

The trio also teamed with Drew Fawcett to win the 1,600-meter relay, in 3:46.

The Vikings also won the 800-meter run and the 3,200-meter run on the track, and in field events got wins in the high jump, pole vault and shot put.

Luke Doughty took the 800 in 2:08.7, and Alex Overby captured the 3200 in 10:33.4. Houston Lehman won the high jump at 5-8, Adam Berlier was the pole vault winner at a height of 12-0 and Jon Rentschler heaved the shot 47-10 for that win.

Lehman topped teammate Andrew Spahr in the high jump, with Adam Woods tying for third. Lehman also got third place in the vault, Fawcett took third in the long jump and Rentschler and Nathan Sutter went 2-3, respectively, in the discus.

Jordan Utter and Jake Shaw took second and third places, respectively, in the 200-meter dash, and Dustin Campbell and Kyler McVoy did the second and third thing, respectively, in the 1,600-meter run. Lehman and Andrew Sizemore got second and third, respectively, in the 300-meter hurdles, and Woods was second in the 110-meter hurdles.
