Lady Viking netgirls outlast Norwell

Getting three of its four wins in three sets, the Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team outlasted host Norwell, 4-1, on Friday, April 26.

Kyle Fredrick at first singles, Emily Eherenman at third singles and the second doubles team of Ana Eckert and Emily Karst all held on for three-set wins, while the first doubles team of Mariah Zumbrun and Ashley Bard won a two-setter, but had to get a tie-breaker in the first set.

The Lady Vikings improve to 2-3 on the season.

Fredrick dropped her first set to Brittany Barger, 0-6, but rallied back to win the next two sets by identical 6-3 scores. Eherenman won her first set, 6-3, over Heather Philllips, lost the second 1-6, but then gathered herself for a 6-3 win in the third set.

Eckert and Karst started off on the down side against Arissa Moser and Chloie Williams, losing 3-6, but rallied back for 6-2, 7-5 wins in the second and third sets, respectively.

Zumbrun and Ashley Bard won their first set 7-6, 7-4 in the tiebreaker, and got the second set 6-3.

In the Lady Vikings' lone loss, Kari Bard at second singles dropped her first set to Kaitlynne Douglass, 1-6, but then reversed the tide with a 6-1 win in the second set. Her Norwell foe, however, took the match with a 6-2 score.

The Huntington North junior varsity won all four matches it played to improve its season record to 3-2.

Singles players Casey Richman and Sara Fryman both beat Megan Herber, by scores of 8-0 and 6-4, respectively.
