The Huntington North High School varsity baseball team pitchers yielded only four hits to visiting Muncie Central in doubleheader on Saturday, April 27, defeating the Bearcats 3-1 and 11-1.

In game one, Connor West shut out the visitors through the first five innings, surrendering just one hit and striking out eight while walking only two. Braydin Stell pitched the final two frames, ceding a hit and an earned run, but was steady enough to earn the save.

Drew Schnitz hit a double and a triple during a 3 for 3 day at the plate and also scored a game-best two runs for the Vikings, 8-3, 2-0 in the North Central Conference.

Devon Goelz supplied two hits, a run batted in and a run and Evan Brown added an RBI to round out the team's offensive effort.

The Vikings turned the second game into a nightmare for Bearcat hurlers, banging out 12 hits. Meanwhile, Brown went the distance on the mound for Huntington North, allowing only two hits and a run in five innings while striking out six for the win, his first of the season.

The contest started out close, with Huntington North and Muncie Central each trading a run in the first, but it was all Vikings after that as they plated two in the third, three in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Brown and Goelz led the offensive production, each hitting a home run and totaling two hits and two RBI apiece. Derek Snyder alsol had two hits and two RBI, West plated two and Stell had three hits.
