The Huntington North High School varsity baseball team trailed host Marion 4-3 after three innings during their game on Wednesday, May 1, but solid hitting and pitching helped the Vikings take command and win big, 14-4.
Huntington North put four runs on the board in the fourth and seven more in the sixth while shutting down Marion out to take its record to 10-3 and 4-0 in the North Central Conference.
Heaston Schwob and Braydin Stell each homered for the Vikings en route to submitting identical 3 for 4 performances at the plate with four runs batted in.
Stell also scored a game-high three runs and stole as many bases.
Evan Brown supplied two hits and a pair of RBI to Huntington North's offensive effort and Schwob, Drew Schnitz and Mitch Hughes each scored two runs.
Justin Segers paced the Giants, 7-8, 1-3 in the NCC, with a three-run homer.
Hurler Quinton Smith improved to 2-2 for the Vikings, scattering six hits over six innings. The senior gave up just an earned run and struck out five.
