Viking golfers fall close

The Huntington North High School boys' varsity golf team fell to host Homestead by just 10 strokes, 178-188, on Wednesday, May 1.
Grant Meese and Zac Tackett carded matching scores of 45 and Dakota Wibel and Connor Hoke each shot a 49 for HNHS.
Jacob Vinson and Sebastian Eckert were non-scorers with a 51 and 56, respectively.
Gunnar Smith fired a 42 to lead the Spartans. Chris Eigner and Nick Kocks both submitted a 45 and Sam Kuntz had a 46.
The Huntington North junior varsity fell by an even closer margin than their varsity counterparts, 202-206.
Dakota Hunt's 49 led the Vikings, followed by Aidan Wright's 50, Michael May's 53 and Troy Akeley's 54.
Eric Martin was the low man for Homestead, shooting a 45. Two other Spartans turned in sub-50 scores, as TJ Bishop had a 47 and Andrew Fream had a 49. Trey Kline's 61 rounded out the team.
