HU's Wood, Gregory claim crowns at Taylor Invite

Krista Wood and Brianna Gregory turned in the only wins for the Huntington University women's track team at the Taylor University Invitational on Saturday, May 4.

Wood claimed top honors in steeplechase in 12:09.40 while Gregory topped the field in the long jump at 15-8.75.

Gregory had a productive meet as she also placed second in triple jump in 32-3.25 and third in the 100-meter dash in :13.04.

The Foresters took a pair of 2-3 finishes in the distance runs as Erin Rockey and Hannah Moore claimed second and third, respectively, in the 1500-meter run, and Cendall Ogle and Gretchen Spahr did the 2-3 thing, respectively, in the 5,00-meter run. Rockey went 5:11.72 and Moore clocked in at 5:14.73 in the 1,500, and Ogle went 19:17.16 to barely edge out Spahr, who finished in 19:17.26.

Amanda Henningfield placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:34.35 and Heather Johnson was runner-up in pole vault at 9-0.25. Lindsey Schroeder took third in the pole vault at 8-6.25 and the javelin at 96-10.50.

Ashley Williams heaved the hammer 115-5 to beat her previous personal best by almost nine feet.
