Vikings take it on chin at Bellmont

The Huntington North High School varsity baseball team got outpitched and outhit, losing to host Bellmont 11-1 on Friday, May 10.
The Braves, 4-12, banged out 11 hits to the Vikings' three, plating six in the third inning, two more in the fourth and responded to one by Huntington North with three insurance tallies in the bottom of the sixth.
Hurler Austin Hale, 0-1, took the loss for the Vikings, 12-6, surrendering four earned runs in two frames while walking three. Mitch Hughes and Kory Goodrich were Hale's relief and combined to give up six more earned runs.
Dylan Call got the complete game win for Bellmont, ceding only three hits, one walk and striking out seven.
Goodrich, Devon Goelz and Braydin Stell accounted for Huntington North's trio of hits. Caleb Richison scored the team's lone run.
A home run was one of Thomas Mitchem's two pokes for the Braves and he had three runs batted in and two runs scored to lead the team.
