Quinton Smith pitched a one-hitter and knocked in two runs to lead the Huntington North High School varsity baseball team to a 10-0 romp over visiting Kokomo on Wednesday, May 15.

Smith gave up his only hit in the fifth inning with the Vikings, 15-7, already up 9-0. He struck out four and walked four.

The Vikes got the only runs they needed with a two-spot in the first. They tacked on four more runs in the third inning, got three in the fourth and the final run in the fifth.

Smith, Heaston Schwob and Connor west each had two RBI to lead HNHS. Braydin Stell was the hit leader with three, and Devon Goelz, Schwob and West each had a pair of safeties as the Vikings raked Kokomo pitching for 13 on the day.

Goelz started things off for the Vikings in the first with a one-out single, and following a walk to Evan Brown, Stell plated Goelz with a single. After a wild pitch, Schwob reached on an error to load the bases, and a walk to West brought in the second run.

The Vikings used four straight singles, a stolen base and a Kokomo miscue to get their first three runs in the fourth, and Snyder brought in the fourth run of the frame with a triple.

The Vikes scored all three of their fifth inning runs after two were out. Stell smacked a triple to center, Scwob and West followed with singles and Smith knocked in both of them with a single.

Drew Schnitz doubled to right-center and moved around on two Kokomo errors for the final HNHS tally.
