The Huntington North High School girls' tennis team used a pair of singles wins and a three-set victory at second doubles to top Norwell, 3-2, at the Norwell Tennis Sectional on Thursday, May 16.
The Lady Vikings play Adams Central tonight, Friday, May 17, at 5 p.m. for the sectional championship.
The No. 2 doubles team of Ana Eckert and Emily Karst hung on for a 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 win and singles players Kylie Fredrick and Kari Bard dispatched their foes to move HNHS, 8-7, to the championship match.
Fredrick at first singles topped Brittany Barger, 6-4, 6-2, and Bard at second singles was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Kaitlynne Douglass.
Eckert and Karst beat Arissa Moser and Hannah Smith.
Emily Eherenman at third singles lost to Rachel Phillips, 0-6, 4-6, and the first doubles team of Mariah Zumbrun and Ashley Bard lost a three-setter to Laken Chaney and Carlee Harnish, 6-0, 2-6, 2-6.
The Lady Vikes received a first-round bye, while Norwell topped Bluffton 4-1 in the first round.
Adam Central got to the championship by beating South Adams, 5-0, and Bluffton, 4-1.
