HNHS track staffs hosting summer skills camp at Kriegbaum in June
Thursday, June 13, 2013 7:31 AM
The coaching staffs of the Huntington North High School boys' and girls' track and field teams are offering a summer skills camp at Kriegbaum Field, in Huntington, every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for the rest of June.
All current middle school and high school students are invited to attend the camp, which is free.
The camp's emphasis will be on technical events, which includes field events such as long jump, high jump and pole vault, and track events such as hurdles.
"We kind of feel that that's where we're lagging," says Don Cotton, head coach of Huntington North's girls' track and field team, of the coaching staffs' reasoning for holding the camp.
Cotton says it's the coaches' hope that the camp attracts new members to the school's track and field program.
Exact dates for the camp are today, Thursday, June 13, and June 18, 20, 25 and 27.
Kriegbaum Field is located at 2001 N. Jefferson St., Huntington.
For more information, contact Cotton at 414-5972 or Scott Bower, head coach of the boys' track and field team, at 358-8196.
