HNHS cross country alumni host 2nd annual MIB Runway Mile

Alumni of the Huntington North High School cross country team will host the second annual Men In Black Runway Mile Walk/Run at the Huntington Municipal Airport on Friday, July 19, at 8:15 p.m.

The race is a completely straight and flat full mile run on the entire length of the airport's runway.

Chip timing will be used to get accurate results and prizes for overall male and female winners, as well as age group winners, will be given.

Registration forms can be found on the event's website, runwaymile.

A reduced registration fee, with a discount for youth ages 12 and under, is offered through July 7. Pre-registration continues from July 8 to July 18. Cash or checks will be accepted, with checks to be made payable to Men In Black Running Club and mailed to Race Director Justin Miller at 3892 N. Rangeline Rd., Huntington, IN 46750.

Day of race registration starts at 6:30 p.m. at the airport. Cash, check or credit will be accepted.

Proceeds from the race will go toward the Huntington North cross country team.

The grand prize for the overall male and female winners, as well as the top boy and girl finishers in the 12 and under age bracket, is a 20-minute airplane ride with an experienced pilot.

Sean Lewis and Elaine Yahne were the top male and female finishers in last year's race, submitting times of 4:32.5 and 5:56.1, respectively.

Huntington Municipal Airport is located at 1365 Warren Rd., Huntington.
