Crestview's Stoffel earns all-state in middle school cross country championship

Crestview Middle School's boys' and girls' cross country teams participated in the Indiana Middle School State Cross Country Championships held at Northview Christian Life Church in Carmel on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Crestview boys' varsity team placed 16th of 21 schools in their division with a score of 353.

Caleb Stoffel once again led the team, placing 21st overall (20th for scoring purposes) in 10:35.1, which earned him all-state honors for being in the top 25.
Alec Justice placed 61st, Tyler Henline finished 95th, Landon Underwood took 101st and Dylan Mower finished in 128th.

The boys' varsity race was won by David Dalton of Greenwood Middle School, in a time of 9:52.4. Creekside Middle School of Carmel won the race with 117 points.
In the girl's varsity race, Crestview finished 16th of 18 schools, with a final score of 387.

Marissa Jamison finished first for Crestview and 67th overall (54th for scoring) in a time of 12:36.7. Emily Eherenman took 86th, Valerie Huffman ended in 99th, Alexis Aldred finished 106th and Corrine Zay took 119th.
Hannah Stoffel, a Riverview Middle School student, traveled with Crestview and competed individually. She finished 110th overall.

The race was won by Fishers Junior High School, with a score of 92. Rachel Nichwitz of Hamilton Southeastern Junior High School won the overall race in a time of 10:47.0.

In the boys' junior varsity division, Crestview took 15th of 20 schools, with a score of 361.

David Prather led the team, placing 50th overall (42nd for scoring) in a time of 12:31.2. Jacob Vinson ended in 78th, Caleb Haupert finished 99th, Michael May took 104th and Zach Baldridge placed 134th.

Otter Creek Middle School of Terre Haute won the meet, with 67 points. Jake Cohen of West Lafayette Middle School won the overall race in a time of 10:58.0.

The Crestview girls' junior varsity team placed 16th overall of 18 schools, with a score of 383.

Ellie Lawson took first for Crestview and 75th overall (42nd for scoring) in a time of 14:11.6.

Kayla Ferrell took 107th place, Synclair Williams placed 125th, Meghan Underwood ended in 166th and Rachel Machaud took 177th.

Otter Creek Middle took the meet with a score of 27th, and Jessica Wells of St. Lawrence School won the overall race in a time of 12:30.7.

Three Huntington County Elementary Schools sent runners with Crestview to participate in the third, fourth and fifth grade division of the championships.

Emma Justice of Flint Springs Elementary School placed 40th overall in a time of 14:04.2. Katie Jamison of Huntington Catholic Schools took 46th, Jack Young of Huntington Catholic ended in 69th, Reese Zay of Huntington Catholic took 77th and Tori Huffman of Roanoke Elementary ended in 139th.
