Monday, August 12, 2013 7:33 AM
The seventh annual New Hope United Brethren Church golf tournament was held Aug. 3 at the Clear Creek Golf Course, with 25 teams participating.
The first place team was made up of Kevin Teusch, Jerry Meehan, Barry Christian and John Gast.
Second place went to the team of Jeremy Helvie, Brian Dill, Tyler Sprinkle and Dru Hammel.
Margie Myers was the closest to the pin on the front nine for women, and Shirley Hunt was closest to the pin on the back nine.
Longest drives for men went to Roger Skinner, Steve Skinner and Wally Stoffel. Closest to the pin awards went to Ed Kline and Ron Hammel.
The tournament raised just more than $10,000, which will be used to reduce debt on the New Hope Church Family Center.
Breakfast and lunch were provided by Patton Cox, of Roanoke, and prepared by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rupp, of Hudson, MI, and members of the congregation.
The drawing for a gas grill was won by Aaron Clark.
