Danny Becker brought the Huntington North High School boys' varsity soccer team within a goal in the second half but then visiting Fort Wayne Snider ran off three more goals as the Vikings lost 5-1 in their season-opener on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Becker's goal, off an assist from Eric Fruit, brought the Vikings to within 2-1 after Sam Schlegal's two first-half goals had given the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, it proved to be the Vikings' lone tally, and Snider put three more shots past Viking goalie Caleb Stoffel before the game ended.

Stoffel, a sophomore, stopped eight shots in the contest.

His Snider counterpart, Logan Kelly, was only tested five times, stopping four.
