Stoffel leads Lady Viking harriers to fourth at DeKalb

With sophomore Hannah Stoffel leading the way, the Huntington North High School girls' cross country team place fourth among 11 teams at the DeKalb Invitational on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Stoffel placed fourth in 20:21.41 over the 5,000-meter course to lead the Lady Vikings to 93 points, two points behind third place Fremont. Carroll won the meet with 52 points, followed by Homestead with 67.

The other four scoring Lady Vikings bunched between 18th and 29th places. Senior Cassidy Johnson was 18th in 21:58.87, sophomore Marissa Jamison was 20th in 22:03.96, junior Emily Eherenman was 22nd in 22:12.38 and junior Taryn Doering was 29th in 22:38.96.

Freshman Cadee Harmon was sixth runner for HNHS with 30th overall in 22:39.85, and junior Stephanie McElhaney rounded out the top seven with 37th place in 23:04.92.

Abby Hostetler of Fremont won the invidual battle with a clocking of 19:50.8 to beat Alexia Zawadzke of East Noble by almost five seconds. Katie Culler of Fremont was third in 20:15.1.
