HU soccerwomen lose opener to Concordia

The Huntington University women's soccer team lost its season opener to visiting Concordia University, 2-1, on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Laura Beth Johnston slipped two goals past Forester keeper Korynne Kik in the first half to put the Cardinals in front.

Mary Whybrew relieved Kik in goal in the second half and held Concordia scoreless the rest of the way, making four saves.

Although Kaitlyn Dreman squeezed a goal past Concordia keeper Stephanie Finilla at the 78:36 mark to put Huntington, 0-1, on the board, it proved to be all the Forester offense could muster.

Finilla made two saves for the game.

Huntington had three shots on goal to Concordia's seven, with Dreman accounting for two and Jessica Krause for the other.
