Lady Vike spikers drop 5-set thriller to Norwell

The Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team lost a five-game thriller to host Norwell, 2-3 on Tuesday, Aug. 27, falling 19-21 in the final game after knotting things at 2-2 with a win the fourth game.

The Lady Vikings, 2-2, opened with a 25-16 win, then fell 21-25 and 23-25 to put themselves in a 1-2 hole. A 25-14 win in the fourth game pushed the match to a fifth game.

Seniors Jessie Drew and Josie Beaver were again the big sticks on offense with 20 and 17 kills, and fellow senior Emiley Gray added 11 kills.

Sophomore Alexa Hill had a career-high 49 assists.

Mikayla Carpenter was the defenisve stalwart with 30 digs, and frosh Kayci Clark added 18. Maggie Hollman and Carpenter added 17 and 14 digs, respectively.

Beaver was the blocks leader with four.
