HU soccermen win opener at Georgetown Classic

The Huntington University men's soccer team won its opening game in the Georgetown College Classic against Mid-Continent University, 2-1, on Friday, Aug. 30.

The Foresters, 2-0, got the scoring started early, with sophomore forward Josh Codd finding the back of the net a little over eight minutes into the game. The Cougars tied things up at the 16:40 mark with a score by Jan Chvojan off an assist by Jose Garcia, but Huntington retook the lead at 36:08 with a goal by freshman forward Brooks Gerke.

The Forester defense preserved the lead in the second half. Senior Drew Mattingly went the distance in goal, making four saves to pick up the win.
