HU booters wipe out Cincinnati Christian, 9-1

The Huntington University men's soccer team obliterated visiting Cincinnati Christian University, 9-1, on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The Foresters, 3-0, scored five times in the first half for a 5-1 lead at halftime. The scoring barrage continued in the second half as Huntington netted another four goals to take the game to its final register.

Sophomore forward/midfielder Joey Newbery and freshman midfielder Scott Murray notched two goals apiece.

Tyson Bradley-Kalischuk, Jake Essig, Wes Johnson, Brooks Gerke and Paul Holliday had the other Forester scores.

Huntington took 16 shots on goal for the game.

Josh Codd, Phillip Holliday, Paul Holliday and Newbery facilitated the scoring with an assist apiece.

Senior Drew Mattingly had goalkeeping duties for the Foresters, making a save, and was relieved by freshman Kyle Burkholder.

The margin of victory is the program's biggest since a 10-0 win over Taylor University Fort Wayne in 2007.
