HU men's tennis team drops Bethel, 8-1

The Huntington University men's tennis team dropped only one game to host Bethel College on Friday, Sept. 6, and won 8-1.

In singles action, the Foresters' No. 1 player, Vlad Khudziy defeated Ethan Turner 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore Joseph Straznicky topped Trent Stout at second singles, 6-0, 6-3; the No. 3 singles match saw senior Jose Hungria beat Luke Prude, 6-1, 6-4; sophomore Diego Inurritegui blanked Matt Kempf, 6-0, 6-0; and junior Joe Brenneman hung a 6-1, 6-2 loss on Rafael Barreto at fifth singles.

The Foresters' lone loss came at No. 6 singles, where senior Zakk Sparks suffered a 2-6, 5-7 loss to Nick Kindig shortly after Sparks teamed up with Brenneman to hand the Bethel duo of Caleb Hadden and Mason Heller their first loss of the year at No. 3 doubles 9-8.

Khudziy and Hungria won an 8-2 decision over Turner and Barreto at first doubles and Straznicky and Inurritegui blew past Stout and Prude, 8-1, at second doubles to complete the sweep for Huntington.

The Foresters improve to 3-1 and 3-0 in the Crossroads League.
