Lady Viking harriers win Blackford Invitational

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity cross country team had five runners finish in the top 15 and won the Blackford Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Of those five runners, the top three did so in personal record paces. Sophomore Hannah Stoffel was the invitational's top finisher, crossing the finish line in a PR time of 19:01.58. Freshman Cadee Harmon was next for the Lady Vikings, taking sixth in a PR clocking of 19:59.88, and junior Emily Eherenman captured 11th with a PR speed of 20:34.51.

Senior Cassidy Johnson seized 13th and junior Stephanie McElhaney secured 15th, submitting season-best times of 20:43.84 and 20:46.84, respectively.

Junior Taryn Doering ran a PR time of 20:51.12 for 16th and freshman Rachel Nalliah clocked in at 23:06.26 for 43rd to round out the team.

Huntington North finished with 46 points, followed by Jay County's 69, Mt. Vernon's 72, Yorktown's 85, South Side's 127, Delta's 140, New Castle's 151, Anderson's 241 and Muncie Central's 251.

Junior Kayla Farrell won the junior varsity race for Huntington North with a PR time of 23:04.96. Fellow junior Ashleigh Miller grabbed third in a season-best clocking of 23:11.99, senior Allyson Faurote finished seventh in a PR time of 23:41.61 and senior Kelsey Coles came in eighth in 23:45.99.
