HU women netters blast Earlham

The Huntington University women's tennis team swept host Earlham College, 9-0, on Friday, Sept. 27.

Celine Rongos, Morgan Bemisderfer and Ciara Smith, playing at second, third and sixth singles, respectively, all logged perfect 6-0, 6-0 wins over their Quaker opponents to help the team improve its record to 5-6.

No. 1 singles player Cassie Kasicki topped Claire Welsh, 6-1, 6-1, Katie Johnson at fourth singles dispatched Jordyn Grimes, 6-2, 6-1 and Jessica Abel outlasted Annie Foley at fifth singles, 7-5, 6-4.

In doubles play, the No. 2 team of Rongos and Johnson and the No. 3 duo of Abel and Stacie Cressman cruised to 8-0 victories over their foes while Kasicki and Bemisderfer teamed up at first doubles to beat Claire Welsh and Jessica Childs, 8-1, rounding out the team's wins.
