HU women booters lose to Goshen

The Huntington University women's soccer team couldn't crack goalkeeper Natalie Thorne of visiting Goshen College during a 2-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Six of the Foresters' eight shots on goal came in the game's first half and Thorne stopped all of them. On the other side of the field, Goshen's Katelyn Vendrely fired a shot past Huntington keeper Caitlin Adams at the 19:06 mark to give her team a 1-0 halftime lead.

Neither team refused to yield in the second half, with Thorne making another stop and Adams recording three of her four saves for the game.

But the offenses came alive in the game's final minutes. Melanie Drinkwater upped Goshen's lead to 2-0 at 78:14 before Becca Grimes put Huntington on the board at 79:17, but it was too little, too late.

The Foresters fall to 3-9, 2-2 in the Crossroad League, while the Maple Leafs even their record at 6-6 and pick up their first conference win to go to 1-3.
