HU netmen get revenge on IWU in tourney

Revenge came at a good time for the Huntington University men's tennis team as it knocked off visiting Indiana Wesleyan, 6-3, in semifinal action of the Crossroads League Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 3.

The second-seeded Foresters, who had suffered one of their two losses on the season to IWU, captured five of the six singles matches, led by No. 1 singles player Vlad Khudziy cruising past Kyle Johnson, 6-1, 6-1.

Jose Hungria at third singles defeated Leonard Mathews, 6-4, 6-2; Diego Inurritegui at fourth singles was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Gavin White; Derek Hinen at sixth singles took a 7-5, 6-3 win from Adam Wroughton; and Joseph Straznicky was declared the winner at second singles as he was leading Brandon Dubuque at the time HU clinched the match win.

Khudziy and Hungria at first doubles defeated Johnson and Dubuque, 8-4 for the remaining HU win.

HU will play in the championship on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
