The Huntington North High School boys' varsity soccer team outlasted visiting Richmond, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 5, to win the North Central Conference title.

Sacha Thirion scored his 23nd goal of the season to give the Vikings, 8-7-1, the early lead. Richmond, however, responded before halftime to knot things up at 1-1.

Eight minutes into the second half, a header goal by Danny Becker off an Aaron Webb corner kick helped Huntington North retake the lead, 2-1, and proved to be the game's winning points.

With the conference championship on the line, both goalkeepers submitted strong performances. Chad Wingo made nine saves for the Vikings, while Drew Barrett recorded 11 for the Red Devils.

In the junior varsity game, Huntington North got a goal from Aaron Gilmore to tie Richmond, 1-1. The team's record stands at 4-7-4.
