Injury-depleted HU women netters fall to Manchester

Defaulting two matches due to injury, the Huntington University women's tennis team lost 4-5 on Tuesday, Oct. 8, to host Manchester University.
Cassie Kasicki, Celine Rongos and Morgan Bemisderfer at the top three singles spots won their matches, but the team got only one more win, at second doubles, and had to forfeit sixth singles and third doubles due to lack of players.
The loss drops HU to 6-8 on the season.
Kasicki topped Kara Gilley, 6-2, 7-5, and Rongos took a 6-4, 6-4 win from Brandy Leeper. Bemisderfer blew past Abby Berry, 6-0, 6-0.
Rongos and Smith teamed up to make short work of Berry and Megan Buckner, 8-1.
In the other contested matches, Ciara Smith at fourth singles lost to Buckner, 4-6, 1-6; Macy Phillips at fifth singles lost to Jillian Bower, 4-6, 1-6; and Kasicki and Bemisderfer fell to Gilley and Leeper at first doubles, 4-8.
