CMS spikers lose in invite championships

The Crestview Middle School eighth grade volleyball team advanced out of semifinals, but fell in the championship match of the invitational it hosted on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The Cougars started the day with a 25-10, 25-11 sweep of Peru. Kalee Platt produced 12 points and two kills while Johanna Dohrman tallied eight points and five kills.

In the championship match, Crestview faced Lincoln and lost 18-25, 22-25.

Katie Jamison led the Cougars, 7-5, with seven points. Platt added six kills, Rileigh Johnson provided four points and Dohrman came up with four points and three kills.

The seventh grade team also advanced out of semifinals only to lose in the championship match.

In its first game, Crestview beat Peru, 25-14, 25-21. Erika Vinson, Lydia Riggers and Maddy Robrock came up with eight, six and five points, respectively.

Against Lincoln for the championship, the Cougars, 6-6, lost in three sets, 18-25, 25-17, 11-15.

Jessica Henline and Karli Cannici both served up nine points while Vinson contributed eight.
