HU spikers get whiff of win but fall to Taylor

The Huntington University volleyball team was poised for an upset on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Platt Arena as it won two of the first three sets before Taylor University battled back to send the Foresters to a 2-3 defeat, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 22-25, 10-15.

The Foresters made it clear they weren't backing down from one of the top teams in the Crossroads League as they scrapped their way to a win in game one to set the tone. The Foresters went on to snag a third set win, but in the end, the Trojans got the best of Huntington by mounting a comeback in the fifth set to secure the win.

Melissa Grossman paced the Foresters with 19 kills, and five blocks. She also had plenty help from Audrey Mallers and Heather Medich who finished with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Jensen Carnahan dished out 51 assists. Defensively, Codie Morey tallied 17 digs while Medich added 16.

Huntington drops to 7-18 overall, 3-11 in conference.
