Forester spikers scrap but fall to MVNU

The Huntington University volleyball team fell to visiting Mount Vernon Nazarene, 1-3, on Friday, Oct. 19.

The match was closer than the final score would suggest as the Foresters were edged in the first game, 23-25, and got clipped by that score again in the second. The team battled back in the third game, 32-30, before losing the fourth game by just five points, 20-25.

Four players had double digit kills for Huntington. Senior Melissa Grossman led the way with 16, followed by junior Heather Medich with 14, senior Abbey Keister with 13 and senior Heather Pulse with 10.

Junior Jensen Carnahan dished out a season-high 60 assists and sophomore Codie Morey paced the defense with 29 digs.

Huntington drops to 7-19, 3-12 in the Crossroads League. Mount Vernon Nazarene improves to 12-13, 7-8 in conference.
