HU bootwomen lose to Bethel in 2OT
Sunday, October 20, 2013 10:17 AM
More shots didn't equate to more goals for the Huntington University women's soccer team as it lost to visiting Bethel in two overtimes, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The Foresters outshot the Pilots, 22-5, with nine tries on goal to four for Bethel, but goalkeeper Mallory Conrad repeatedly foiled Huntington. After faltering early and spotting the Foresters a 1-0 first half lead via a Sam Cubic goal, Conrad, the Crossroads League saves leader, made eight stops to shut Huntington out the rest of the game.
The Pilots pulled even, 1-1, on an Abby Snider goal at the 63:22 mark in the second half. Following a scoreless first overtime period, Kylee Shipley netted the game-winner for Bethel at 106:28 in the second.
Goalie Caitlin Adams recorded two saves for the Foresters in the losing effort.
Huntington wraps up the regular season at 5-12, 4-5 in the Crossroads League. Bethel moves to 6-9-2, 3-6 in conference play.
