HU women bowlers 13th in Georgia

The Huntington University women's bowling team competed in the Brunswick Southern Classic in Marietta, GA, on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 3, where it finished 13th out of 16 teams.

The Foresters posted a total of 5,048 pins in their six regular matches on Saturday and finished 5-7 in their 12 two-game Baker matches on Sunday to finish with a grand total of 9,253 pins.

Shelby New bowled a team-high 214 in her fourth match on Saturday to pace Coach Jim Bischoff's squad. She finished with a 181.5 average to place 23rd as an individual out of 111 bowlers.

Casandra Griffith was the only other Forester to bowl all six matches on Saturday. She averaged 159.2 to finish 48th individually.

Other bowlers for Huntington included Brooke Ewing, 165.6 average for five games, Ayla Yeiter, 156.8 average for four games, Emily O'Leary, 171.0 average for three games, Emerald Leong, 167.0 average for three games, Caitlin Pidgeon, 173.0 average for two games and Leigha Lindsey, 189 for one game.

Webber International claimed the women's title with 10,648 pins, followed by Florida State,10,189; Pikeville, 10,188; Victory, 10,146; and Bethel, 9,557.
