The Huntington North High School girls' bowling team was the runner-up of the semi-state team tournament at ProBowl West, in Fort Wayne, on Saturday, Feb. 8, and moved on to the state team tourney.
Additionally, Lauren Smart, a senior for the Lady Vikings, took seventh in the semi-state singles tournament that same day to advance to state as an individual.
Huntington North shot Baker games of 955, 840 and 968 for a total of 2,763 that netted third place and one of the five advancing spots to state, set for Saturday, Feb. 15, at Woodland Bowl, in Indianapolis
In the stepladder finals, the Lady Vikings topped Jimtown, 374-365, followed by Northrop, 360-338, to set up a championship showdown with Lake Central, which won a 411-400 squeaker.
Smart's teammate, sophomore Mackenzie Faurote, finished 15th in the singles competition with a 543 to end her season as an individual.
The trip to state is Smart's first while Huntington North will be seeking its fifth team title.
The singles and team finals will be streamed live online at www.ihsb.org at 11:45 a.m. and 6:35 p.m., respectively.
