The Huntington Lady Eagles advanced to the final four of the state championship in the Indiana Christian Basketball Alliance by defeating the Cornerstone Warriors on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
The final four was played Saturday, Feb. 22, at The Summit in Fort Wayne.
The Lady Eagles went into the opening round with the advantage of a bye, but Cornerstone pushed them to the brink before succumbing, 56-50. Coach Mark Shultz's squad held a 46-36 lead heading into the final frame before Cornerstone cut into the lead.
"Cornerstone played a great game," said Lady Eagles Head Coach Mark Shultz. "They came in with nothing to lose and really took it to us.
"The Leatherman girl had a great game, scoring 20 points. We felt fortunate getting out of there with a win."
Catherine Weaver carried Huntington, 19-4, with 36 points. Abby Ballinger added nine.
Cornerstone defeated the Fort Wayne Hurricanes in the play-in game to face Huntington.
