Nash leads HU men at DePauw Classic

Behind Jake Nash's first place finish in high jump, the Huntington University men's track team finished ninth among 15 schools at the DePauw Indoor Classic on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Nash bettered his best and re-established his school record with a winning leap of 6-8 as the Foresters' only top finisher.

Brian Menzie turned in a fifth place showing in the mile in 4:38.03 as did Logan Knox in weight throw, 47-2.75. Menzie also earned a point in the 1,000-meter run with his eightth place finish in 2:43.63.

Other point-getters for Huntington included Daniel DeBoni in the 60-meter dash, sixth, 7.18; Wyatt Jones in the 400-meter dash, eighth in a personal-record :53.43; Michael Bowman in the 800-meter run, seventh in a PR 2:01.37; Tyler Herber in the 5,000-meter run, sixth in 15:49.84; and Brooks Gerke in triple jump, sixth in 40-5.25.

Wabash won the title with 156.5 points, followed by Marian, 92; Cumberlands, 79; Lindsey Wilson, 66.5; Taylor, 60; DePauw, 60; Lindenwood-Belleville, 45; Bellarmine, 38; HU, 34; St. Joseph's, 31; Centre, 22; Thomas More, 16; Webster, 8; Indianapolis, 6.5; and Brescia, 4.
