Several local gymnasts shine at own championships

The Huntington Gymnastics Academy hosted the I Believe I Can Fly Championships on Sunday, March 2, in the Huntington North High School fieldhouse.

Competing in levels three through seven, HGA gymnasts captured second in levels four and five and fourth in levels three and seven.

In level four competition, Makenna Shearer and Emma Wilson shared top honors for HGA on vault, balance beam and in the all-around. Shearer also took first on bars and third in the floor exercise while Wilson claimed second on bars and floor.

Emma Tracy and Reece Scheiber tied for gold on floor, Emma Holzinger attained second on vault, Avery Bonewitz was a silver finisher on floor and in the all-around and Chloe Camomile picked up third on bars, floor and in the all-around to round out HGA's best level four finishes.

Morgan Reimer came in second on vault, floor and in the all-around to pace HGA at level five. Kortney Konz supplied a bronze finish on vault and bars and Sarah Malone placed fourth on bars to supplement Reimer's output.

Emalee Kline highlighted HGA's level three effort with first place finishes on vault and bars and silver showings on beam, floor and in the all-around.

Kalie Hill captured second on beam and in the all-around, Maisyn Robrock was runner-up on floor and Janna Teusch finished fifth on beam for other strong HGA level three finishes.

In level six competition, Corynn Barton earned top honors on bars, beam and in the all-round and second on floor while Bailey Harris was golden on vault and floor and second on beam and in the all-around for HGA.

Aleah Eckert and Brianna Bates took second on vault and floor, respectively, while Danielle Korporal placed fifth on beam to spotlight HGA's production at level seven.
