HNHS baseball team opens with big win

The Huntington North High School varsity baseball team was clicking at the plate and on the mound in a 17-1 season-opening victory against host Blackford on Tuesday, April 8.

The Vikings, 1-0, banged out 13 hits, two each by Austin Eltzroth, Devon Goelz and Derek Snyder. Mitch Hughes and Snyder had three runs batted in apiece, while Alex Easley and Goelz each added two.

Senior Austin Hale, junior Walker Spahr and sophomore Kory Goodrich combined to throw a two-hitter for Coach Brian Abbott's squad. Hale allowed no hits and struck out three in two innings to pick up the win.
