Lady Viking golfers fall to Columbia City

Maddi Kennedy was the only one to break 50 for the Huntington North High School girls' varsity golf team as it lost to host Columbia City on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 187-205.

Kennedy, a senior, fired a 45 at Eagle Glen as the Lady Vikings fall to 4-3 in head-to-head matches.

Despite the loss, HNHS Head Coach Ron Vinson felt his team played well on a course many of his golfers were playing for the first time.

Sarah Fryman followed Kennedy with a 51, Ashley Hall had a 53 and Jaclyn Boyd fired a 56.

Jessica Wiley shot a 60 as the non-scorer.

The Lady Vikes' junior varsity was a 230-232 winner.

Sarah Malone and Leah Kitchen each shot a 53 to lead the squad. McKenzie Haneline had a 60 and Bailey Irick shot a 64.

"Very happy with everybody's play today," said Vinson after the match. "We play Fort Wayne North Side tomorrow (Wednesday) at LaFontaine. Hope we can get back on the winning side."
