HU soccerwomen let early lead slip away

The Huntington University women's soccer team couldn't make an early goal stand up and lost 2-1 to host Purdue Calumet on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Courtney Baker scored just 12 minutes into the contest to give HU, 1-2, the lead, but despite getting 10 more shots in the contest, the Foresters didn't score again, while PC scored once in each half to get the win.

The hosts scored in the 26th minute and then 20 minutes into the final frame.

Baker's goal came as a result of her chasing down a wind-blown punt from goalie Paige Coolman, outrunning a Calumet defender and then beating the Caluet goalie Erika Brinkman in a one-on-one situation.

Coolman registered six saves on the day but got saddled with the loss.
