Newberry leads HU booters to victory over Concordia

Joey Newbery put the ball in the net twice and the Huntington University men's soccer team in the win column for the first time this year as the Foresters beat host Concordia, 2-0, on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Newbery put Huntington in front early, scoring less than three minutes after the opening whistle off an assist by sophomore Scott Murray. The junior then added to that lead at the 15:57 mark with his second goal, this time aided by senior Phillip Holliday.

The Foresters took 12 shots in the contest, eight on goal. Sophomore Marcos Salinas registered three of those shots on frame.

Sophomore goalie James Couchman preserved the two-goal lead, helping Huntington improve to 1-3.
