Lady Vike harriers win 12th straight NCC title

The entire Huntington North High School girls' cross country team earned all-conference honors for the second straight year as it overpowered the field to win its 12th consecutive North Central Conference Meet on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Indiana Wesleyan cross country course.

Junior Hannah Stoffel won her second straight NCC crown by beating Logansport freshman Isabelle Crain to the finish line by more than 18 seconds, clocking in at 19:26.9 for the 5K distance.

Sophomore Cadee Harmon placed second for HNHS with a third place time of 19:54.7, and freshman Chloe Scheiber was fifth in 20:21.6. Junior Marissa Jamison placed sixth in 20:24.8 and senior Emily Eherenman completed the HNHS scoring by placing seventh in 20:26.3.

The final two HNHS runners, seniors Stephanie McElhaney and Taryn Doering, took the final two all-conference spots by finishing ninth and 10th, respectively, in 20:44.3 and 20:46.3.

West Lafayette Harrison was runner-up among the nine teams with 69 points, followed by McCutcheon with 86 points, Logansport with 96 points and Marion in fifth 126 points.

Freshman Emma Melcher led the HNHS junior varsity by finishing 34th in 21:22.5.
