Lady Vike spikers 2-1 at NCC tourney

The Huntington North varsity volleyball team went 2-1 at the North Central Conference tournament, which it hosted on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Lady Vikings opened play against McCutcheon and fell in three sets, 25-22, 13-25, 21-25.

Freshman Kalee Platt paced the offense with 13 kills. Junior Alexa Hill added three aces and kept busy aiding her teammates, dishing out 34 assists.

On the defensive side, sophomore Ariene Butler registered 10 digs and Platt produced a block.

Huntington North turned things around in its second match, sweeping Logansport, 25-10, 25-16.

Platt and senior Dana Stoffel notched seven kills apiece while Hill logged two aces and 18 assists.

Butler scrapped up nine digs and sophomore Mackenzi Cannici made two blocks, a total matched by Stoffel.

Coach Trinda Goings' squad wrapped up the tournament with a 2-1 win over Kokomo, 25-17, 12-25, 25-21.

Sophomore Allyson Mettler recorded eight kills. Hill served up four aces and supplied 20 assists.

Butler posted her highest dig total of the day, with 23, and Stoffel added a block.

The Lady Vikings finish the regular season 22-11 and fifth in conference.
