Vikings lose lead and game to Carroll

The Huntington North High School varsity baseball team saw a 5-0 lead disappear in one inning and wound up being beaten by visiting Carroll, 10-5, on Monday, May 18.

The Vikings, 15-6, scored five runs on five hits in the second inning but surrendered six runs in the fourth inning and another four in the seventh.

A two-run double by Walker Spahr highlighted the Vikes' big frame, but North starter Blake Gray was unabled to get past the fourth inning as he surrendered six hits and six earned runs in the top of the fourth.

Alex McCutcheon was reached for the final four Carroll runs in the seventh.

Carson Wright led a seven-hit HNHS attack with a pair of safeties, and he, Derek Snyder and Kory Goodrich each had an RBI in the contest.

Viking pitching was reached for 12 hits. Brett Feller had two hits and three ribbies to lead Carroll, 16-11.
