Lady Vike spikers ruin EN comeback effort

The Huntington North High School volleyball team fought off a comeback attempt by visiting East Noble and hung on for a 3-2 win on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The Lady Vikings won the first two sets, 25-14, 25-18, before East Noble took the next pair, 26-24, 25-20. The Lady Vikings won the decisive game, 15-12, to improve to 19-5 on the season, 3-0 in the Northeast 8 Conference.

Allyson Mettler pounded down 16 kills and Alexa Hill came up with 32 assists to pace the HNHS offense. Josi Barscz added three aces to those efforts.

Mackenzi Cannici had nine blocks and Ariene Butler had 19 digs to lead the defense.

The Lady Viking junior varsity won, 2-0, to improve its record to 15-6. Scores were 25-18, 25-14.

The Johnsons -  Rileigh and Larissa - each had six kills to lead the offense. Peyton Butler had 14 assists and Butler and Johann Dohrman each had five aces.

Rileigh Johnson also was the leader in digs with five, and Dohrman added a block.

The frosh squad was also a 2-0 winner, topping EN, 25-16, 25-14 to improve to 7-8.

Lydia Riggers had five kills and Izzy Kreider had 14 assists and four aces.

Jordin Crail led the defense with three digs.
