Season ends at regional for Lady Vike golfers

The season came to an end for the Huntington North High School girls’ golf team at the East Noble Regional, held at Noble Hawk Golf Links on Saturday, Sept. 26, with a 14th-place showing.

Sophomore Jaclyn Boyd fired a 90 to lead the Lady Vikings. Senior Sarah Fryman shot a 96 and junior Ashley Hall posted a 99. Junior Leah Kitchen supplied a 100 to cap the team’s score at 385.

Junior Jessica Wiley carded a non-scoring 101.

Penn won the regional title with a register of 315. The Lady Kingsmen were led by medalist Cassidy Jurkaites, who tallied a 71.

Northwood and Leo claimed the other two advancing spots to state, with scores of 325 and 329, respectively. The Lady Lions edged Homestead for bronze on a fifth score tiebreaker.

Wawasee’s Mikala Mawhorter, Norwell’s Amber Nelson, Rochester’s Kinley Lingenfelter, Bishop Dwenger’s Sarah Frazier and South Adams’ Sydney Willis all move on without their teams.
